Season 48 - Vancouver Takes the Crown!

Vancouver is your Season 48 Champion!

After another great postseason in Cobb in Season 48, it was the Vancouver Griz that came out with the World Series trophy!  After finishing as the runner-up in Season 46, the Griz finally ascended to the top with a great postseason run.  Vancouver, the AL #2 seed, swept their first match-up against Texas before winning a tough battle in the ALCS in 6 games against the #1 seed Dover.  They then defeated Atlanta, who swept #1 NL seed Huntington earlier in the playoffs, in a World Series duel that also lasted 6 games.   Hector Rodney led the offense with 8 HR and 1.449 postseason OPS.  Their entire pitching staff was on throughout the playoffs, posting an impressive 2.52 ERA.  Congrats to t22u and the Griz on the World Series victory!

Now, let's take a look at who took home the individual honors in Season 48!

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
American League - Jerrod Howard, Dover - .286 AVG 41 HR 124 RBI 52 SB
The 27 year-old leader of the top seed in the AL put together a spectacular season, that included going 40/50, to win his first MVP trophy.  Howard also won his 2nd Silver Slugger and made his first All-Star team in Season 48.  With his combination of power and elite speed, the sky's the limit for Howard and he should be a threat and a contender for future MVP awards.

National League - J.P. Teheran, Huntington - .323 AVG 50 HR 174 RBI 32 SB
The 28 year-old Huntington slugger broke a streak of 6 consecutive Chicago Pitbull MVP's, and he did it in a big way.  His tremendous power and ability to run the bases make him one of the league's biggest threats.  He made his 2nd All-Star team and won his 4th Silver Slugger in Season 48 as well as collecting the MVP trophy.  What a season indeed for Teheran.

CY YOUNG AWARD
American League - Mark Hoiles, Dover - 20-8 2.95 ERA 218 K
The hard throwing righty out of Dover took home his 1st Cy Young award in just his 2nd full season.  It's hard to imagine he won't be in contention for future Cy Young awards, as his makeup is nearly flawless.  This is his 2nd 20-win season, as he also did so in his Rookie campaign, where he took home Rookie of the year.  Watch out for Hoiles when you face him, he's one of the best in Cobb for sure.

National League - Yimi Segui, Atlanta - 21-6 2.34 ERA 219 K
And here is another young phenom completing his 2nd full season and winning the Cy Young award, it's the Dominican wonder playing for Atlanta, Segui.  Similar to his AL counterpart, very hard to see flaws in his makeup and should be back in contention in future seasons.  A very tough lefty for opposing hitters to face, he also made his 1st All-Star team in Season 48.

Season 47 - Dover Takes the Crown!

Dover is Your Season 47 Champion!

Season 47 wrapped with Dover making quite the statement, sweeping Chicago in the World Series, giving rbedwell his first Cobb Championship!  After a tough divisional round that went the distance against Cleveland, Dover took the ALCS in 5 games over Vancouver and then marched on to a sweep in the World Series.  Dover's bats were on fire all postseason, hitting over .300 and slugging 22 Home Runs in 14 games.  They only used 8 pitchers all postseason, but they all put forth solid efforts, posting a 3.02 team ERA and an 11-3 record.  It was a great march to the title for rbedwell and Dover, congrats to them on a dominant postseason!

Now, let's recap the major award winners in Season 47!

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
American League - Julio Espinosa, Dover - .340 AVG 38 HR 129 RBI
It was a banner year for Espinosa taking home both his first MVP award to go with his first World Series ring.  His hitting tools are practically unmatched, with no major flaws to point out.   With his skills at the plate, future MVP's are definitely in play, and his stat line from Season 47 could be his norm.  It will be intriguing to see how his career plays out.

National League - Yadier Torres, Chicago - .314 AVG 45 HR 106 RBI 36 SB
The NL MVP stays with Chicago for the 6th consecutive season, and it's Torres picking up his 3rd MVP overall, all in the last 4 seasons, with another phenomenal season.  He also made his 6th All-Star team and won his 5th Silver Slugger in Season 47.  This stud slugger and five tool player could very well take home more MVP's in the future, it will be interesting to see if he can pick up MVP trophy #4 before he hangs up the cleats.

CY YOUNG AWARD
American League - Francisley Falu, Vancouver - 21-5 2.38 ERA 197 K
The AL Cy Young award went to the top hurler for the ALCS runner-up, Vancouver, as Falu took home his 2nd Cy Young with another great season where he mystified hitters.  He also threw a No Hitter in Season 47 and made his 4th straight All-Star team.  No doubt he is one of the best pitchers in all of Cobb and many more seasons of impressive stats are likely to come from him.

Juan Trevino, Cheyenne - 13-4 2.42 ERA 169 K

Well, this is something you don't see too often for sure, a 3-way tie for the NL Cy Young Award.  This is Trevino's 2nd Cy Young win, as he also won in Season 45, while it's the first win for both Lopez and Ward.  Ward would go on to announce his retirement, thereby ending his career with a Cy Young win, and accomplishing a rare feat, winning the Cy Young in his 40's.  Lopez and Trevino still look to have a number of great seasons ahead of them and good have their names listed here again.

Season 46 Wrap Up - San Juan is your Champion!

San Juan Claims the Title as #6 seed from NL!

After sliding into the playoffs as the 2nd wildcard in the NL, San Juan went on a fantastic postseason run to claim to the Season 46 title!  It wasn't easy, as both of their first two series against 100-win teams went the maximum number of games before reaching the World Series, where they defeated the AL #5 seed, Vancouver in six games.  The pitching staff really stepped up for San Juan in the postseason with a solid 3.10 ERA in the playoffs, led by several tremendous performances from the bullpen.  The offense held its own with some timely steals on the basepaths and a steady stream of home runs to keep them ahead on the scoreboard.  Congrats to lcarmona76 and San Juan on taking the title!

American League - Hector Rodney, Vancouver - .320 AVG 47 HR 116 RBI
Rodney slugged his way to his first AL MVP by putting up career high numbers in Batting Average, Home Runs, RBI, Slugging and OBP.  A tremendous season by one of the most powerful bats in Cobb for sure!

National League - Julio Ogando, Chicago - .355 AVG 35 HR 102 RBI
Chicago claims the NL MVP for the 5th consecutive season, thanks to an amazing season from Ogando.  This is Ogando's 2nd MVP win, as he also won in Season 42 to kick off the Chicago streak.  Ogando also made his 7th All-Star team and won his 2nd Silver Slugger award in Season 46.  Quite the impressive season for Ogando, indeed.

CY YOUNG AWARD
American League - Harry Galvis, Cleveland - 16-9 2.50 ERA 243 K
The lefty hurler out of Cleveland nabbed his 2nd straight Cy Young, 3rd in 4 seasons, and 4th overall with another spectacular campaign in Season 46.  Although it was his lowest win totals of any of his Cy Young campaigns, the rest of Galvis' numbers were elite.  He also made his 7th All-Star appearance in Season 46. 

National League - Bernard Spencer, Portland - 22-2 2.11 ERA 148 K
Spencer picked up his 2nd Cy Young Award in Season 46, dominating hitters while tabulating a sparkling win-loss record.  Spencer, who previously won the Cy Young in Season 41, also made his 6th All-Star appearance in Season 46.  The ERA, winning percentage and WHIP combination put up by Spencer in Season 46 is rarely seen, so it was most definitely a deserving win.
